I recently traveled to New York City with the school and on the plane ride back, I started thinking about if travel was actually good for you. So I did some research and the consensus is yes travel is good for your physical and mental health. (According to travelhub.wttc.org) “Travel helps your brain function better and boosts creativity. Immersing yourself in new cultures increases your mind’s ability to move between different ideas, think more deeply, and integrate thoughts. ‘Foreign experiences increase cognitive flexibility and depth and integrativeness of thought,’ says Adam Galinsky, a professor and author of numerous studies on the connection between creativity and international travel.” Physically I think it is good for you because you tend to walk to a lot of places while on vacation. I know from personal experience that unless you drive to your destination, you don’t really have another option.
