In Ukraine there is a war between Ukraine and Russia. It has caused parents to start sending their kids to underground schools called metro schools. This is for their safety and so they can continue their education.
Around 17,000 kids in Kharkiv have started to attend underground schools now. The mayor of Kharkiv plans on more underground schools and metro schools. Parent of an underground school attendee Anastasia Pochergina said, “Today my child, a first grader, came to school for the first time, an underground, to Northern Saltivka.” This shows how much Ukraine kids’ education is going to be affected by the ongoing war.
