The United States of America has gone into a full government shutdown as of October 1st. This shutdown is due to the fact republican and democratic lawmakers were not able to agree on budgeting plans for the government funds. Both sides are not backing down, thus a government shutdown is in order until officials decide what to do with the budget.
Some government funded agencies will continue to work. Such as US military forces, CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) agents, air traffic controllers, and FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) investigators. As for payment, furloughed workers (employees who receive unpaid leave) will eventually get their pay once the shutdown is complete, but they may not receive them as regular back to back paychecks.
President Donald Trump threatened to fire all federal employees in a shutdown rather than furlough them. That would not be good in the case after the government shutdown they no longer would have those federal employees, but if they furloughed them all the employees could come back to their jobs as they were.
Some examples of agencies that may be affected by the shutdown would be, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the Smithsonian Institution, national parks, the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Department of Health and Human Services.
