The new Art and Science Academy Middle School Principal Ms. Erickson was Interviewed because she is a kind person. Here are some of the questions that were asked:

How are you liking ASA so far?

I love it! I like the students and families. It’s a Community Feel.

Why’d you join this job?

I really wanted to be a Principal. I wanted to work with staff, families and students. I love doing this job.

Have you worked anywhere else before? If so, where?

I worked at a Cambridge Isanti Minnesota schools center. I worked as a reading specialist in Monticello, an art teacher, I worked in an Administration Charter School in Minneapolis, and a Teaching and Learning Coordinator. 

What is the hardest decision you’ve had to make in your career? 

Balancing what we need and what everyone wants.

How do the teachers in ASA work together and collaborate?

Cover each other when needing staff, and when students are struggling they support them.

What are the 3 1st things you would do as a new principal to engage the community at ASA?

 I would do science and art integration and get the community involved. Communicate, tell them about the good things at ASA, and get to know the students and parents.”

What is your favorite color? 

I would say Blue.
