Eighth graders at ASA Middle Schoolrecently went to visit Cambridge High School for a small orientation, which inspired me to give the people in my grade some advice. So this month’s question is: “Do you have any tips for students entering high school?” I think it’s best to be yourself. You aren’t going to make any friends if you pretend to be someone you’re not. Plus, why would you want to be anyone but yourself? You are amazing. Also, you can’t be someone else, they’re already taken. So be yourself! Another one of my ideas is that you should get yourself acquainted with at least one person in each class, so you aren’t alone. I also don’t think that friends, although important, are the largest priority in high school. Your grades are more important, as you could get a scholarship for college with a high GPA. So I think it’s important to study hard and stay focused in class, so you can pass your tests and get some A’s. It’s also a good idea to have a little fun in high school. So I say you should attend the football games and dress up for spirit weeks! Go to the school dances, or watch your friends play in a band concert! High school is a journey of self discovery, so I think you should try new things and see if you discover a new hobby! You never know when something could pop up. So my advice for my friends and fellow eighth graders is this: Enjoy high school. You aren’t alone, and I know you’ll do great!
